On Tuesday I was eating some pretzels as a snack and I bit down and broke one of my back molars. I should clarify that I broke off part of the tooth and it didn’t go down to the root which meant no root canal but I did have to get a crown. I’ve never had a crown before and in 42 years I guess that is good, but would have preferred going even longer without having to get one. I will say that the tooth that broke did have this huge filling so I guess it was just a matter of time.
So today was the appointment when I learned the bad news. So they shot me up (my face is still numb 3 hours later, is that a good or bad thing?), did whatever it is that they do to your tooth (and I really don’t want to know, assume they grind it down which is enough for me), took a mold for the permanent crown and then put on the temporary.
And then I got the bill…$875. Ouch! Of course I don’t have dental insurance because it has been 8 years since I have had anything more than a filling. At least I have flex spending money so at least it is pre-tax money.
So I get to go back in 3 weeks…oh joy.
