The Lenten season is upon us…well those that are Catholic and maybe Lutheran and Episcopalian.  As children we were taught to give up something or to sacrifice something that we really like (or love) and to endure as Jesus did in the desert.

I don’t always give up something (and sometimes it is better to say you are going to do something like help people) but I have a deep love for chocolate, especially dark chocolate.  Well what bigger sacrifice (for me) than to give it up.

Well the first few days were NOT easy!  oh my!  I wanted chocolate all the time.  But I didn’t give in (and still haven’t) and it has gotten easier as the weeks have gone by…but don’t think I’m not counting down the last 4 weeks until Easter!  Oh and what comes in the mail today from a coworker that is near a Trader Joe’s?  Dark chocolate covered pomegranate seeds.  I have no idea how these are but he said they are really good and since we don’t have Trader Joe’s in Texas (and why is that TJ people?!) I asked him to send me some to try.  You know that come April 4th that package will be popped open and I will be able to try this delicious treat.

My sister decided to do something a little harder, she said no processed foods…which means if she can’t identify the item in the list of ingredients it doesn’t get eaten.  That is something to aspire too because it means eating healthier.

So here is to another 27 or so days.
